A Flickering Flame

I wish I knew what I could say.
To you so I could have my way.
The prayer I prayed is slowly fading.
While you aren't sure and I am waiting.

Two hearts don't always see the same.
One goes all in, one plays the game.
The cards get dealt, somebody loses.
One say's ok, and one refuses.

Where does faith go as time goes on.
The hope I had seems all but gone.
And love becomes a tired dream.
As it is torn right from it's seam.

The last of cherry wine's been drank.
And with it our love boat has sank.
A sad ole love songs new refrain.
Of hopeful dreams that end in pain.

But maybe there is still a chance.
The two of us will get to dance.
Where both our hearts can find their way.
And remember that we both did pray.

Prayers might fade as the light dims, but hope remains. This is a beautiful, sentimental poem, Robert. Tugs at the heartstrings. So good to see you're still here, posting. <3

Like me, you come back often to the same theme (mine is a long ago memory that I relive with poetry). yours is a more dramatic theme that affected your life very greatly. it is one of your best on the topic and the last stanza was wonderful with its slice of hope there.

I only have one mind. What get's written is all that I can find. I know sometimes it seems like such a grind. But I'm always grateful when you are so kind. :) <3 :) Hope all is well with you and Joe. :)
