A Flickered Hope
A single candle separates
the darkness from the light
A flickered hope to contemplate
upon this moonless night
Impressions in a wave of shadow
dancing on the wall
Interrupt my thought
as I sit down before I fall
My demons seek an entrance
as they peek inside my brain
And with each flicker they grow strong
as light begins to wane
But fragile though my beacon is
to guide me now till morn
I know I’ll make it through
to see the sun in day reborn
