A Few Years Ago

A few years ago, "The window is right there."
Was a reoccurring thought
"The knife is in the kitchen."
Were words that haunted my mind
"No one would miss me."
Spun through my head
"You're a burden to everyone."
Bullied me daily
"Where is the best place to tie a rope?"
Puzzled me endlessly
"How many of Mama's pills would it take?"
Burned in my mind 'till I was burnt out

Nowadays, "My father needs me."
Comforts my sorrow
"Anthony needs me."
Makes me feel better
"Britney wishes we could hang out."
Quiets my rude mind
"Jeanelle would grow up without me."
Makes me stay for the future
"All I want to do is help others."
Keeps me going
"You will do amazing things."
Comes from the voices who love me
