The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

A Feather In My Cap

I looked at her
across the dance floor
And wanted her desperately.
It was written all over my face,
It made my heart skip a beat
whenever she waltzed near me
and I suffered in silent misery.

But she was out of my league,
Too classy, too darn beautiful.
I turned around to walk away
when she tapped on
my shoulder lightly and asked,
"Can I have this dance with you?"
You could have knocked
me down with a feather!

Abdul, the salivating part was kind of a turn off, but WOW, did you ever knock this out of the park for cleverness and for the use of punctuation and all those other little things I look for when judging. I just loved how you got the two different expressions for feathers into your poem. Once in the title and again at the end of your poem. Congrats on your win.

You are right! I was mulling over it like forever and getting nowhere. So I let it stay. But, I have changed it! What do you think now?
