A Fantasy Affair

One day I wandered to a meadow where nature’s springtime was beyond compare, for lovely flowers I saw dancing there in May’s breeze, and fragrant was the air. A woman swayed among the blossoms unaware that I – a stranger – was entranced and could not bear to turn away, so I crouched down low that I might stare at this lass who lithely twirled and her face so fair! Yellow daisies decorated her long hair which shone like gold in sun’s dawning glare. Her essence was that of someone with no care. Alas! She spotted me. I’d given her a scare. As she fled, I felt a sort of strange despair, for the ending of an all-to-brief fantasy affair!

Congrats on your win, Andrea. Smashing poem. I have written for so many contests where one of the rules just doesn’t gel in my head. It’s easily done, but Milt’s clearly a flexible fella and gave due recognition. Terry

Loved your rhymes and your story, Andrea. I think it would have moved up the list, but it was not really a "single stanza." Congratulations!

good grief. I am so crazy to see the words single stanza and not even let it register. Thanks anyway for the win. I had no idea where I'd go with that monorhyme until I just let it write itself.

I could picture this fantastic scenario. Pity she escaped. Could have been the beginning of a great friendship.
