A Dreary, Fairy Dreamer
Mates, we had a cheery literature teacher,
Who told tales and looked more a preacher
Than a teacher, and here's a tale he told
About a bald male whose talk sounded bold.
This man's not real but a phantom in fiction
Whom our preacher wrapped in flowery diction;
This man’s dirty that his teeth hated toothpicks;
He was naughty that his pet topic was politics.
This man had a dream, a dreary, fairy dream:
To try selling seashells, sitting by a stream,
And write a republic and form a dreary system.
Mates hated his customs but greeted his wisdom.
