A Dragon's Tale

A handsome prince has to kill a dragon
to rescue the princess
for a happy ever after ending
content with the fairy tale
never we asked what fate
conspired the dragon to guard the princess
the misfortune that bigoted the mighty beast
to be a mere watchman of the tower
in the darkness of the dungeon
as the beauty napping in peace.
contemplating his horrors of life
that he desired a similar fate not to haunt her.
in await of his own rescuer
with wings spreading
to either corners of the dungeon
and with shining eyes
shedding light into his emptiness
come swooping down from the heavens.
but in his tale, less he knew
that angels too were a myth
he waited day and night with insomnia
tired and fatigued, his magnificence reduced
when the prince came he fought and failed
And hurra! the world said
"The worthy" saved our queen
from the clutches of a demon.
His fate sealed, his desires concealed
his purpose unfulfilled
never anyone knowing his dreams
he lay waste in the pit he lived.
