Another top notch tanka! The emotion in this is so sincere... I can just see that dog and his mopey eyes, looking down at his master, saying "So long!". Truly a beautiful poem!

awe... This reminds me of a dog name Hattchi' I hope I spelled it right... Always waiting for his owner. This is a good tanka, short just the way you like them poems... he he he... Good luck in the contest. always PD
