A Dog On the Bed
A Dog On the Bed
By Elton Camp
Kevin was inordinately fond of his hound
So it was in his bed the canine was found
Even after Kevin got married
Still in the bed the dog tarried
His wife said, “I’m tired of odor and fleas.
Get that dirty mutt off of our bed, please!”
So Kevin reluctantly told his wife okay
But the dog continued sleeping that way
She spit out, “He’s more important than me.
So it’s in the guest bedroom that I’ll be.”
“You can come a visit me there,
But don’t bring that bag of hair!”
Because the dog scratched with his feet
Kevin’s surrender of the bed was complete
To the dog alone the bed was kept
It was on the floor that Kevin slept
His wife ran away with his college friend
Such devotion to a dog his marriage did end
