A Ditty To a Poet From the City

Here is a little ditty
  To a poet from the City

She writes of common things
  Yet makes the routine sing

Her style is perfect rhyme
  Its beat is mighty fine

A chronicler of daily events
  She walks the dog, pays the rent

The subjects may be ordinary
  But her poetry is extraordinary
  
A tower of poetic power
  She is, of course, Ilene Bauer

Ilene has a remarkable gift observing everyday life, things other people take for granted. she is one of my fave poets and even when my time is limited especially of late, I always try and read her wonderful words.
