A Disparaging Cry Goes Up

A disparaging cry goes up throughout our land
Intense feelings are generated by vocal dissent
We are not hearing a patriotic “Strike Up the Band!”
The pot of dissent is stirred by a former president.

Big lies are continually masquerading as the truth
The pot of dissent is stirred by a former president
Who lies about what happened in the voting booth.

Ridiculous conspiracy theories are being touted,
Who lies about what happened in the voting booth?
The procedures we are accustomed to are flouted.

Ridiculous conspiracy theories are being touted,
Things that no one in their right mind would believe
The procedures we are accustomed to are flouted,
Arguments are set forth that are hard to conceive.

Things that no one in their right mind would believe
Those elected must come together and begin to lead

Level heads in Washington, D.C. are what we need.

L Milton Hankins July 23, 2021 at 7:37 PM I don't either, Caren. I'm so sick of him...just seeing his pictures on social media constantly. He was not good for our country, and I wish everyone could see that. Most former presidents fade into the background...not him! He thrives on this attention.

He is now Citizen Trump, but his picture dominated every social and news media. I thought he would fade away, but he persists. It's a sad, sad time for our country. I probably won't be around to see it, but I fear for our country's future.
