A Diamond's Remnants

A Diamond's Remnants beneath a full moon their kiss in winter’s first snow. . . her soft eyes glowing her delighted gasp as he opens the ring case. . . the night sky sparkles the months since she died he wakes sometimes to dreams of diamonds in her eyes in dementia’s fog the snow, the sky and her eyes. . . a diamond's remnants Written 12/28/13

On reading the last verse, i feel the heaviness of the diamonds in her eyes. A beautiful image through and through! I see why you won!

Andrea, congratulations on your first-place win! While I sense lots of wonderful memories and some shadows in your piece here, I'm focusing on the former. Well done! :)

I really do like this form, and spent more time studying it than the others I think, and still think it's one of the harder forms to write. Great work, and as always, I'm sure you don't need luck for the contest, but I wish the best and you should do well.

I like the age progression from verse to verse. This is a very dramatic poem with beautiful imagery. Amazing work, Andrea! Good luck in the contest!...Thank you so much for the wonderful comments.

Probably the best Haiku I've ever read. It's also a very passionate, deep and caring write, tinged with melancholy in nostalgic hue.
