A Demon's Introspection

In the recesses of my mind Lurks an imaginary fiend; a part of my psyche’s design borne of a roguish, mutate gene. Deceit belies my comeliness To my casual encounters, I’m well-mannered and smartly dressed I’m an unsuspecting monster. Damn fools! Clothes never make the man nor his discriminating taste. This real man is more inhuman whose moral state is unchaste. I was born with this affliction Wreaking pain is satisfaction.

Originally I was bent on writing something with a Halloween theme. I began writing four verses and determined that it was going nowhere. Then it dawned on me: why not write a poem in the third person about an evil man? Get inside his mind for a brief look at evil incarnate.

Hi Albert Don't know whether to take you seriously or not.Your poem I thought was good. The subject matter, well? There are sadists I know and masochists and if they get together for them it would be an ideal solution. At least they wouldn't be hurting anyone. Well one of them would, but as the other one would like it they in a sense wouldn't be hurting them! I think I'd better stop now except to add I liked this and think you write good poetry. luv June(sylvia)
