"Laying it all out" Jenn. Sometimes we "lose our heads" when we stick them out too far." Not egg-actly what Flo, or we, hade planned! I guess chicken is on the menu for dinner! Congratulations on this fun and very clever "lay."

A "Lay" poem about a hen and her eggs? You are just too clever for me, Jenn! I love your Mother's Day theme for the Day in May contest. Guess we're going to have to change to website name to Poultry Soup now, lol. I suppose all your chickens eventually learn to go with the Flo. She just sort of lost her head. Congrats for your win, my friend. Hugs and blessings ~ John

Different and refreshing, although a tad gruesome for the poor old Flo.

Jennifer, hi! This poem, a true narrative or so it read & felt, is terribly moving to me. The simple, the common in life never seems to stay simple. Little hens will be the ones to see the sky falling…Or will make the heart fall upon giving a gift of sustenance! Here, too, your “simple” poem presents a vast metaphor for Sacrifice, so appropriate for Mother’s Day—a day of heartbreak for me…we adopted 2 toddler brothers, who now, 30 yrs later, want nothing to do with us…beheadd… Sacrifice requires giving Love. Ask Christ. Ask your hen…Amazing Poetry,Jennifer! Thank you.
