A Dark Sun Day
Beneath mornings blanket
shivering flesh
covered in a forbidden secret
wrapped in seclusion
hidden in the woods
away from the city.
You cry to yourself
praying to God you could laugh, but
the hurt weighs heavy
way deeper than tears you carry.
So, morning has opened her eyes,
has kept many secrets,
yours is no different.
Peering through cracked blinds
she offers a forgiven smile.
She hears you breathing.
She knows you're there.
She knows remorse is your unwillingness
to part with
your blanket
of conviction.
