A Dark Soulless Place
Poetry interested me
In the least yesterday.
I did not pick up a pen.
I thought I would finish
My paintings, but I did not
Go near them.
Did not answer the phone
Either. People tried all day.
I had a full mailbox and 162
Facebook messages.
People were concerned.
People knew.
I was in a dark place yesterday.
I made a huge mistake. I stayed
Inside, holed up, boxed in by
Dark blinds, no color, no sun.
Alone in misery
After watching a TV show that
Showed an actual tape that horrified
All my senses of decency, and caused
Me to wallow in a dark dank place.
I hid out from my family and my friends.
When I get like this, I need you the most.
But you won’t have an inkling unless you
Catch a glimpse and my glimpses are
Kept under lock and barbed wire
In a dark soulless place.
A selfless cold angry place.
Come find me if you dare.
