A Cup of Tea With Farmer Fred

Met Farmer Fred one afternoon for tea;
This was the question he posed to me.

“For success in the game of life,
 Is it better to be smart enough to win,
 Or too dumb to quit?”

Now I thought on this just a bit;
Lifted my cup and took a big sip.

Then Fred gives me his famous Fred wink
And says, “Here is what I really think.”

“Life will always include rough kicks.”
“Thus, the genius to winning in life,
Is to be the one who didn’t quit.”

what a great message in this poem. And I'd say it's also rhymed one, I guess a mixture of free and rhyme

Nicely said! People notice the one who never quits.

True, many bright people have convinced themselves many times over about all that is impossible. In each and every case they congratulated themselves on being right. This piece made me smile. Hats off to all the dumb, passionate people who didn’t quit.

Looks like there's a little bug to squash right below me here... Old Farmer Fred's a sage in overalls. :) gw
