A Cry to God: The Unanswered Questions Why

WHY MY Father did you chose me?
You knew before I was even born
the life I would live—
full of pain, shame, regret, and sin.
You knew, God,
the brokenness of the life
before I was even sent.

Why, Father,
did you choose this for me?
Why did I have to go through so much pain?
Why did you let me live through pain so unbearable
that even when I reach for You
things still sometimes seem impossible?

Why, Father,
does the pain not end?
Why do the trials keep coming?
Father, how much more must I endure?

I worship Your name,
I cry to You,
and still I feel alone.
Still I feel like the fire is blazing—
and still,
I choose You
because I know You chose me first.

But why, Father,
can I not just be with You?
Why do my kids have to hurt?
Why must I feel so defeated, depressed, and broken?
When will it be my turn?
When will this world stop spinning?
When will the tears stop flowing?

Father,
I live for You.
I endure this pain
and trust You to carry me through.
I hold You close,
even when I'm breaking.
I know You won the war
I'm still fighting.

So why is it still so hard to keep on going?
Why, my Father,
do I get these glimpses of things getting better
only to be knocked down again?

I need You, Father,
to tell me why I must live this life in such pain
when the enemy knows
I'll choose You no matter how depressed I am.
I will still choose You
because I know how good You are.
I won't let the enemy win.

So why is it so hard?
Why will he not accept defeat?
Why do You still allow the attacks to come?
I know You fight for me—
but how do I fight for myself?
How do I make it stop?

Why, my Father,
is life so hard
when others don't seem to carry this kind of pain?

I still stand with You,
and I know You stand with me too.
You are my strength
and the reason I keep going.

I just want to know
why You chose me
to keep carrying the weight
of everything that no one sees.
