A Crumbling Tremendous Wall

I walked for miles
down streets of walls searching
for my destination,
lost in a maze,
a labyrinth going nowhere
it seemed to me;
dark and gloomy,
walls enclosed me
in their dark ancient dampness,
time ticked,
tick, tock, tick, tock
sounds faded
existence seemed faraway
and I was captured;
a prisoner of the walls
until I met a man
and asked him for directions,
I followed his words exactly,
turn here and turn there
and I did
until I came
to the end of the walled streets
and faced
a crumbling tremendous wall
THE WALL- ended my journey,
but not really
as I had to turn
and retrace my steps,
back through that maze
of narrow streets.
