     Joseph's 'Choose A Line' Contest  ~  May 16, 2025

I squinted while gazing into the western skies my attention drawn to banks where willows wept. Twilight, a melange of magical moments in my eyes, usually interludes when twilight colors were windswept just before the juncture where daylight slowly faded and the reign between sun and moon were traded. But tonight, "a crimson sky breaks the distant shore." Appearing low across the horizon as if flames of fire or a canvas where vermillion paint fills every open pore. Dusk glows with summer heat as shifts of light transpire. Silently, the sun sinks, and the transfer of rule unfolds. Trailing behind are gossamer rays of ambers and golds.

A beautiful poem Lin, a sunset can evoke both happy and sad memories for me, I choose to try and remember the better ones, your poem allowed me to do that. You used two of my favourite words Vermilion and gossamer, but the line, to which there are many I loved was " and the reign between sun and moon were traded" Danny

The happy ones are always the better ones, Danny. If only they could block out those that are less kind. You've chosen two words that easily lend themselves to poetry. I often mention the connection between sun and moon, relatively in a romantic manner. I'm grateful to you for your noted line.

Lin, this is beautiful. The alliteration of "melange of magical moments" made me smile. I can see why you are an artist as well as a poet. You have a way of seeing and describing things that seem very pleasing. Take care, of course!!!

I'm smiling to know you were pleased with the alliteration, but never an overload of it. Thanks so much, Duke.

I try to capture sundown as I see, particularly one in which we had to paint it so deeply awash in crimson, but sunrise is my time of peacefulness. Thanks ever so much for your wonderful words of encouragement, Ink.
