A Creek Christmas Carol

[Away In A Manger - revisited] Where Dave is the ranger And Tom is the mayor The saloon is open And Milt gambles there On high in the night sky A star ’bove the church The beacon of Soup Creek To aid in the search An old passing stranger Had let it be heard That a babe would be found And his name was the word Now, Mark was the sheriff He closed the saloon And Jenna, quite frankly Wasn’t over the moon She said find that baby And find it real soon My bar can’t be closed While this night has a moon In the church they found him And o what a fright That poor baby’s young face Was smeared with Marmite But Tom said Stand clear men That God-awful pong We thought was yeast extract… It seems we were wrong

Haha this stinks of a Vegemite conspiracy to bankrupt the saloon and the town, another question, who's the daddy? Where's the Sheriff when you need him. Tom

Hmm… can one be promoted from ‘innocent bystander’. I await with baited breath or perhaps I mean trepidation!

A fine look at the Creek around Christmas...a strange baby born and left in the church! But why close the saloon? Cuts into my revenue, too.

Well, I was confident that the fine upstanding folk of Soup Creek would rather search for a child than spend their time boozing and gambling. Well it is Christmas. ;-) Terry

Terry, I'm with David when it comes to steering clear of marmite, and now I know why. How old was that baby and who the heck does he belong to? I'm thinking about suing for loss of revenue for having to close down my saloon for a time. I'm gonna speak to the mayor about this nonsense! Someone's gonna pay! btw...thanks for reporting the injustice. Now, my doors are open, so come on in.

Ah, but when you reopened and the whole town rushed in you must have made a killing. As for who the baby belonged to… I had visions of him floating down the creek in a wicker basket, but I could see that becoming a reeeeealy long poem and I had already added a seventh stanza to a six stanza carol. ;-) Terry

Madcap writing Terry, love your opening stanza, then all the zany antics, not for the faint hearted, nappy changing that is! and I steer clear of all the Mites, Mar- or Vegie-, crazy sacrilegious stuff, cheers David,

I wrote the first stanza before I knew where the tale was going. I liked it too, so left it in, just for the hell of it. Glad you ‘enjoyed’, David. Terry
