A Connection
I thought we had a connection,
The rare kind that survives all without exception.
Growing up together spending many years apart,
Though friendship deep still ingrained in my heart.
We chat and we chat; obviously me more than you,
After 6 years apart, excited friendships renew.
We planned and planned, chose a venue and a date,
Obviously you being you
You were bound to be late!
Many years apart a few minutes was all it took,
To be back on the same wavelength,
Like comfy slippers, an old book.
Though this time was different I'm sorry to say,
As you hurt my feelings from that night to this day.
From all the excitement and planning we made,
You stayed but 3 hours then disappeared I'm afraid.
No apologies, no communication, no hellos from my friend,
I guess all connections do come to an end…
