Frightened by a sudden scream;
a chill slithers up my spine
and morphs into a quivering shudder
that makes my skin crawl.
A cold sweat breaks out,
and the stiffened hairs on my neck slowly rise
as I collapse into a panic mood,
desperately trying to rationalize this.
Fight or flight has me paralyzed,
I can't move a muscle...until I hear
that terrorizing scream again.
And I run,
fueled by the adrenalin of fear.
