A Cold Sweat

Frightened by a sudden scream,
a chill runs up my spine
and morphs into a quivering shudder
that makes my skin crawl.
A cold sweat breaks out,
and the hairs on the back of my neck start to rise
as I collapse into a panic mood;
desperately trying to rationalize this.
Fight or flight has me paralyzed,
I can't move a muscle until I hear
that terrorizing scream again.
And frantic, I begin to run,
fueled by the adrenalin of fear.
