A Cold Star In An Empty Space

Rain sings to me
Night calls for me

Perhaps the sun don't shine?
Perhaps this time ain't mine?

Cold comforts me
Flame eases me

Perhaps the song can't be sung?
Perhaps the story stays undone?

Perhaps you see through my eyes?
Perhaps you see past my disguise?

Rain plays my tune
Night conceals the face of my moon

A cold star in an empty space
A black heart with a smiling face

Perhaps the dark side will never be seen?
Perhaps daylight silences the darkest scream?
Perhaps a fractured soul can't be seen under unbroken skin?
Perhaps fooling ourselves is the greatest sin?
