The snowflakes fall and it is cold, and the bright Christmas lights flicker; the beauty outside I behold, as the snow falls colder, thicker. Walking I gaze at a window, the snowflakes fall and it is cold; I stand at a closed store window, and I curl up on the threshold. All I own in the bag I hold, I fall into a deep, deep sleep; the snowflakes fall and it is cold, and visions into my dream creep. Hands are holding me as we rise, and I see a land made of gold; a man smiles beautiful and wise, the snowflakes fall and it is cold.

Many congratulations dear Constance on your top win with this very touching and sad poem. It expressed the awful situation that sadly, so many poor souls find themselves in so, so well. Very poignant. Hugs and blessings to you xx

I felt more than twinges of sadness as I read your poem, Constance. When I worked downtown I saw countless homeless folks who were street bound in all kinds of weather. My heart goes out to them but I also find the situation baffling, probably because I've never been so down and out that I'd chose to live on the streets. Homelessness is an unfortunate consequence of today's morality. Great poem...best wishes with the contest, Sara
