A Closer Look

Have you ever saw a rose
With it's beauty on display
It's petals softly beckoning
To all who pass their way

But hidden on it's stem
That the petal's smile adorns
Is nature's own deceptions
That hides it's tiny thorns

One mistake is all it takes
For the thorns to cause us pain
But its beauty draws us closer
With magic we can't explain

Sometimes we see the beauty
For it's what we want to see
A closer look abandoned
That brings uncertainty

So take a closer look
And lessen your mistakes
There's good and bad in all of us
And this is all it takes
