A Christmas Tree Eulogy

Forgive me Oh gentle tree As I strip away Your garland glory Your ornamental tinsel dress Laid plucked and bare Prepared to rest And I thank you For your evergreen light As hope illuminated Against the lengthy nights May your message of peace Bless this home Even once spring and summer Has come, and gone Though Christmas is now Packed and boxed away Oh Christmas tree Let your goodwill Stay 01/18/23

It is sad to see it go; I know someone who has a backyard full of them; it's like a christmas tree hedge in her yard. She buys them with the root ball intact and they plant them after the holidays; it's quite beautiful. Well penned of the old trees.

What a wonderful idea, wish we could all recycle our trees like that! Thank you for the sweet comment, M.L

Once Christmas has come and gone, we keep away the Christmas tree and other decorations ! The Christmas tree, a symbol of hope and merriment is something we dismantle with sadness. But hope, Christmas will once again come and the Christmas tree will once again stand proud. Beautiful poem Michelle.

Dear Michelle, your lovely poem of praise for the gentle tree is beautifully touching. You capture the symbolism of the Christmas tree with your amazing artistic imagery so vivid yet tenderly soft. I adore the love, respect, gratitude and hope woven through your verses like garland woven through the beloved evergreen branches. I especially love your last two lines for a grand finale to an exquisite piece. Warmest wishes, my inspiring friend.. ~Susan
