A Child's Only Christmas

On Christmas Eve an Angel felt the sorrow of the Lord. Who wept for the many Children sentenced to perish by the sword. What alarm and consternation could sweep their lives away? By those who think a Child's extirpation would not lead their souls astray. As Doctors and their sycophants ply their trade with minatory skill. Know there are a thousand causes for which to die but none for which to kill. What sweet music would not be written and what songs would not be sung? What picture worth a thousand words would never unite the world as one? So 'Peace on Earth' to those who care but take from this to hear my plea. For every precious Child not born of Earth is a lost building block we need. And to those who cower in the dead of night afraid to speak for fear of enmity and strife. Please look deep within and feed your spirit... you may just save a Child's life. What disease would not be beaten and what further pain will be our curse? What person plagued by an unknown affliction would want to make things any worse? The Angel thought about such irony of a Child ripped tragically from its womb. Knowing such a Child may have held the key to a society's heightened gloom. So the Angel gathers up the Children who would not see the light of Christmas day. And takes them to the gates of Heaven to revel in the laughter they all displayed. But back on Earth... more decisions made to add another name to Heaven's scroll. But the Infant's death will not save our place as we abide another heinous stain upon our soul. So 'Peace on Earth' to those who care but take from this to hear my plea. For every precious child not born of Earth is a lost building block we need. And to those who cower in the dead of night afraid to speak for fear of enmity and strife. Please find your courage this Christmas Eve... and save a Child's life. The End *For The Darker Side of Christmas Poetry Contest Sponsor: Richard Lamoureux Date: December 15/2019

Thanks Sandra. I try not to preach but it is an important subject. One worthy of debate by both sides. Have a great day my friend.

I think in 100 years we will look back on abortion the way we perceive the slavery of the previous centuries... 'What were we thinking!!' Stay frosty my friend.

Hello David … if we consider that life is the only thing we truly ever own, to be denied that is heartbreaking. Well written with a powerful message David - Lindsay

As a wise person once said, 'It's amazing how all those in favor of abortion have already been born.' The hubris of their position just drives me nuts. Have a great day.

It is definitely one worthy of debate but sadly those who support abortion think their argument is made by being as loud as possible with their ears closed. Have a great day my friend.

Is this poem POTD yet? If not, it should be, methinks! (Haven't looked yet). David, it's a masterpiece. Right into my faves! Thanks, and Merry Xmas. Peace and Joy, Gershon

Thanks Gershon. This is about as serious as I get. I will tolerate a lot of things and may even 'agree to disagree' on many subjects but on this I draw the line. Stay frosty my friend.

David, dear David, the very first poem I ever read here in 11 months that made me cry. You restore my faith in humanity. I wish there were more love and poetry here for human life. I tried to encourage women to get it rolling and failed. This is a poem with depth, meaning and a message. A FAVORITE!! And ..should be POTD beyond question! With love and respect, Panagiota

David, you probably heard about the thousands of dead fetuses, CHILDREN, found in garages in Indiana. Freaked me out. What is happening to the human race. Panagiota

I pride my self in my tolerance and would certainly not want to sit in judgment of anyone but 'abortion' just drives me nuts. Thank you for your kind words. Have a great day my friend.

Beautiful words david, and a truthful statement. Every person counts, and children more then anything. Thank you David.

I think in a hundred years we will look back on abortion the same way we look back on slavery. "What the hell were we thinking?' Have a great day my friend.
