A Child With Smiles for Miles

Our daughter made a wish; it was her third,
and Lydia Marie, a brand new child,
then came along with charming cheerful smiles.

In not too long that cutie gave us smiles -
This small gift who arrived upon the third
day after Christmas, a December child.

This precious last-born of our own dear child
keeps growing, showing more and more sweet smiles.
A wish come true is she, our daughter’s third.

Our daughter’s third wish is a child with smiles for miles.

Your poem's flow is seamless, and the use of metaphors gives depth to the portrayal of a smile. It's a delight to read; congratulations on your contest win, dear Andrea.

Thanks, Sweetie . Glad to see you back. I wrote this poem many years ago before I even came to Soup. That Lydia is now age 19!

Very nice, Andrea; a child's smile lights the world for me. No dark in the presence of such innocent light. Well said.

You are fortunate to have a third baby, a grandchild with sweet smiles for miles. Definitely she must be keeping her parents and grandparents in great cheer. All blessings to the little one.
