A Change In the Weather
The tides coming in on rocky grey blight
knocking on my worn-out cabin door
incessant waves break white in full sight
whoosh of clear bubbling effervescent light
inching ever closer, its breath is hard to ignore
helpless seaweed pushed up on the shore
I greet my uninvited noisy morning guest
a crow sitting on a weather worn old log
just a stop to preen while getting some rest
we both watch the ocean’s journey quest
with hopping steps he decides to finally jog
and I give a shout to bring in my wayward dog
just at its peak the tide turn stutters and retreats
the morn has darkened, today we will get no blue
like a marching band, rain starts in pelting sheets
the waves are now crashing with similar beats
I close my door and secure the shutter latch too
looks like I will stay inside, I have housework to do
