A Chance

As I sit here and talk to you
I wonder what you are thinking
For I cannot see your face
It is hidden by miles and technology
I have seen it, but only for a little while
I want to feel the taste
Of your lips kissing mine
I want to feel the warmth
Of your body next to mine
I want to hear the sweetness
Of your voice telling me you love me

To want something so bad
I can taste it
To know that I could never have it
Breaks my heart
Why can you not be here?
Why could we not have met another way
I guess our hearts are being tested
To see if we can withstand
The time, the distance, the chance
Because that is what this is
A chance
A chance that you are you
A chance that what you say is true
A chance that these feelings are real
A chance that there's a chance
Maybe someday you will read this poem
And know that I took a chance
