I write upon the silent cry of the wounded.
Helpless, Jane Doe feels alone in her plight
and no one hears her muffled screams;
she suffers in silence.
She has endured domestic violence, cowered;
stayed mum in fear of retaliation,
revictimization through recrimination.
Victims like her need to be empowered
to flee domestic violence.
Nothing is what it seems
on the surface when deep secrets don't come to light
Broken, she eventually mended.
Litany of therapies she has attended;
For others, she will continue to fight.
Lest she comes apart at the seams,
fights back in defiance.
By helping others, she takes back her own power;
champion worthy of admiration!
