A Canary's Mind

Try to put feelings to thoughts,
thoughts to words.. 
weed out angry ones, hope for forgiveness 
in calling card verse.

beauty sings "won't be long" 
in clear air, beauty sings 
voice of the canary, what does it know
of better things.

Was I hard by you, did I lose track of time..?
or fail to find it, the beauty inside..
that sweet voice of the canary remains 
lost in this mind.

In a world of self judgement
to reconnoiter by chance,
such a force were we, 
in our simple made plans.. 

So go on now, go
you were meant to fly high..! 
high above the mines, 
not here down below.

Beauty sings "won't be long"

of better things.

sounds like mid marriage. Allway remember and blame the vows. and the reasons will become different. Besides beauty will be trust. besides love will be posterity.

Hi Richard. Your lines reminded me of Maya Angelou's Caged Bird. None of God's creations should be held captive, and certainly not such a tiny creature who sings so beautifully. Canaries sacrificed so miners would be safe. That never sat right with me.
