A Bright Calm Before
Soft and verdant hills
Undulating on the horizon
Aglow in the sunlight
Caressed and cloaked
Behind a screen
Of diaphanous mist
Then the heat of the day
Hit me
Saunaesquely shocking
Breathtakingly fierce
Now the hills stood out sharply
Against a backdrop
Where darkening clouds
Threatened
Prelude to a season
Inviting thunderstorms.
