A Blue Sapphire
Earth’s the planet that we call home,
a blue sapphire in outer space
orbiting a splendorous sun:
an extraordinary jewel.
A blue sapphire in outer space,
Earth is breathtaking to behold:
an extraordinary jewel,
a cosmic gem, beyond compare.
Earth is breathtaking to behold,
offset by billions of bright stars:
a cosmic gem, beyond compare,
tethered to an orbiting moon.
Offset by billions of bright stars,
with tilted poles of ice and snow;
tethered to an orbiting moon:
Earth is bathed in light night and day.
With tilted poles of ice and snow
orbiting a splendorous sun;
and bathed in light both day and night:
Earth’s the planet that we call home.
