Notes About The Poem

The dog is your best friend. So is the cat. and whatever they would wish for you is the very best thing they can think of so don't get upset if one of them brings you something dead and lays it at your feet. That has actually happened to me on several occasions. It's a gift of love so thank them for it and praise them for being so good.

A Birthday Card From the Dog

Hey Sweetie, it's your birthday,
And I know that you won't brag,
So I'm gonna do it for you,
On you it don't look bad.

I hope you really have a ball.
Run and play, get hairy.
Chase the mail man down the street.
Whatever makes you merry.

Chase the cat around the room,
Or lie in the sun and snooze.
Eat until it makes you sick,
Or sit back and howl at the moon.

(Just do whatever makes your tail wag)
