A Beautiful Thing

Released into an opening of warmth and mystery, he melded with the throng of his undistinguished peers, their number seeming infinite, their ultimate design one and the same. And as they forward streamed, rapidly, they scattered and disappeared into oblivion. He found himself alone, beyond them all. Employing mere instinct, he traveled on to monumental possibility. He did not yet have the capability to smell the rose perfume worn by her who was to be his mother nor was he able then to hear endearments whispered in her ear by him, from whom he'd been released. But as the moans of two in love subsided, already he had reached that unnamed place. Consummation led to an inception when he merged with his female half. Although he could not know it then, he soon would be adored, the fond expression of his parents’ dream. For john freeman's contest: "Maverick's Free Verse"

This smacks of reincarnation. Why? Because there is an intelligence within when you talk of inception from the mouth of it which is being conceived. This doesn't come from the void. There is choice being made. Just an idea. I am not posting as much as I'd like because I'm copying a book of mine to computer document. Love, Dave

New life is a beautiful thing. I enjoyed reading this wonderful write. I had to read it a second time before it clicked in. Not swift on the up take today. No I do not like vampire or werewolf movies or any horror ones. Good luck on the contest. love phyl

I think this poem is of a sexual nature - perhaps related to procreation. It is not easy to understand. Sometimes I think you must go with "instinct". It is a poem to ponder and I will look at it again later. I think that we are lucky. Have you read about what happened in Japan? I am sure that will be the basis of much writing? Love & Peace Matthew Anish

Very nice opening to this poem. Mystery shrouded by warmth and premature approval of the uningratiated peers.
