A Beautiful Surprise and Some Fireworks In a Quiet Place
it is the 4th of july
i can see the fireworks from my upstairs window
on the left side of me is you surprisingly
what you see in me i don't know
then again, it does not matter
you were my babysitter and my school boy crush
i am frozen with amazement and pure delight
i am so not your type, and you are nowhere near mine
however, in some way, we found a common ground
you are munching on some pop secret extra butter popcorn and a cherry fanta
i am indulging on some white castle cheeseburgers and a cold dr. pepper
at the same time, the illuminated night sky has us in a benevolent daze
we sneak kisses in every now and then with our lips of mixed flavors
enjoyment has never been this good for us in a long time
a small world realized for our now newly attentive eyes
we never thought that we would be here
our quiet smiles balance out the joyful noise outside
