After a diagnosis of breast cancer, many women face a range of emotional struggles – especially body-image issues....................................

woman trying on clothes in store dressing room

Note: To all the women facing all kinds of emotional struggles especially when body image takes over with concerns. I wrote this poem and dedicate it to my ex-mother in law, Yolanda. We are very close. She's a breast cancer survivor. She spent the Christmas Holidays with me and my children 2015. She's beautiful at, 54. She's always questioning my writings. So Today, I write this for her. Up to this day, she is single and living her life to the fullest. She once told me a story about a man she was in love with. He left and never looked back. Yolanda, on the other hand, said, it was harder to lose a breast. To this day, the only one she misses is the one breast that got away. I shared this poem, Via text message. She's in love with the poem. Already. :) I too hope you, enjoy the poem. As she told me. The Struggle is real. LOVE LINDA

-Escape of the mountain- Do you care about my breast? The new curve - countryside corset The beauty of every summer dress Laying down, wearing out gravity Embracing the same feeling; Your hands indulged in Passion and devotion around perfumed scenery The perfect pair Today we will pray, Counting every second on the clock No longer the womanly figure before' I will possess a new battle, around the virtues of my palace. Will you still be there, when the hump and lump are gone? Will I still be the queen of your heart? Patiently I shall wait and see in hopes to gain the time breast cancer stole Leaving behind torn tissue, with a daily reminder of; The one that got away.

I happened to drop by Poet Destroyer A, and immerse myself in the depths of her realm of thoughts, and when from the bottom I resurfaced past the bubbles of my belligerence, I grasped the fresh breath of the living insights, and I contemplate...

Sad and somewhat painful for those of us who've lost family and friends to cancer. Still, it's well penned and my heart goes out to you.

So beautifully expressed in relation to cancer warriors. They are more beautiful because they fight the disease with bravery and a smile on their face. Loved it :)

I hope your ex-mother-in-law is having a happy life now. There are special bras she can wear. I have seen them in the bra department. I have enjoyed this poem.

Though a male, I can sympathize with women who have breast cancer. Thank you for reading me today. Best to you. / M

Very endearing and honest poem, PD. Such a relevant issue in regards to the strains it puts on a relationship. It tests the bonds that keep two people together. Is it more than just skin deep, our love for each other. The questions posed in this poem alone is gold worthy. Love and joy to you and yours.

A lot of emotion in this power packed piece. The internal wondering, the questions are so poignant while the strength of your words are of resilience and hope. A great support you are with great courage by your former mother-in-law. Thank you for sharing, I send many blessings to you both, lynn

This is very touching Linda..Breast cancer is taking toll on my small island too. Its sad...but I think at time the more important thing is to learn to accept things. Your m. in law is very courageous and you very supportive, I must say...great write, I'm sure she loved that! :D

Very well written! Much here to think about, how one never knows what tomorrow will bring, and the necessity for deeper love if to have tender comfort during such trials. Profound read.

Lovely one Linda , the words bring out both the pride and anguish of what breasts can bring and cancer can take away. Its so painful hearing nowadays so many close ones getting cancer the increase is alarmingly frightening to say the least.
