A Beautiful Day for Emilia J

It was, they say, a beautiful day
A beautiful day for Emilia J
A day for surprise, a day for a song,
A day for a friend to be tagging along.

Emilia, darling, said Lisa La Bow
Who gestured above at a plane flying low
Just watch all the poets, who practice their trade,
Fly in for the start of the Poet Parade.

The Poet Parade, why Lisa La Bow,
Just when did you hear of this upcoming show,
My spirit is high, but my radar is low,
Please tell me, dear Lisa, just where do we go?

This upcoming show is our biggest parade,
Where poets read poems and they sip lemonade,
The real event is the contest to see,
Which poem resonates with the right company.

Emilia J, your poems are the best,
Your work should be sung for the world to attest,
Although you are joyful and like to have fun,
I long for the day when your message has won.

Now Lisa La Bow, I’m happy you know,
I dance to the beat of a rock and roll show,
But should I compete, nobody would say,
Let’s dance to the beat of Emilia J.

Emilia J., you stand on the brink,
So write what you will, but do what you think,
The whole world is watching and waiting for you,
To write us a poem that will carry us through.

Now Emilia J. was an angel they say,
Her poems were the best in a wonderful way,
She gave it all up for a star in the sky,
So heaven is here in the blink of an eye.
