A Bear Skin Rug, Part Ii

I awake to a numbing chill The door stands open The dying embers of last night's blaze Offer no defense against Nature's winds My fingers search for your skin My eyes scan the room for a glimpse of you My mind races, reviewing each scene My muscles ache against the pain of the cold Every touch Every embrace Every look Every taste So vivid in my mind Yet no silken body lies beside me No satin robe holds court in the chair Was it all in my head I know my angel exists Her verse inspires me like no other Her unsurpassed beauty fuels my dreams But was she really here I scramble for answers I look for clues I find the empty eyes of the only witness But the beast has long been silenced I'm left to ponder Was it real or fantasy For now, I must live with this dream Til I can hold M'Lady by the fire.
