Lights Before the Fall
They say time is precious,
They say live, enjoy the highs and lows,
But when I’m up there on the Ferris wheel’s crest,
All I think of is the fall that follows.
Yet I feel the joy,
I feel it in every loop,
That wild moment when I bellow in joy,
Even knowing the drop is coming soon.
Crashing down like a Tilt-a-Whirl’s spin,
Only to queue for the ride again,
Life’s loop of lights and shadowed nights,
Where joy and fear both entertain.
