''Mercy''

My subject is mercy
                               I haven't much time
                               And so I have chosen
                               To speak in rhyme
                               To bring forth a message
                               so dear to me
                               And that within it
                               The truth you will see

                               When I think of mercy
                               In all of its scope
                               I realize fully that
                               This is my hope
                               For nothing I have
                               Can take care of me
                               For mercy I plead
                               For all time to be

                               I did not deserve it
                               I still do not
But He gave me a record
                               That has not one spot
                               Oh it isn't mine
                               I'm sure you'll agree
                               But it is His record
                               That he gave to me

                               Now I've never been
                               What I needed to be
                               But still God's mercy
                               Flows out to me
                               And when I am gone
                               From this earthly place
                               I'll depend on his mercy
                               I'll rest in His grace

                               Yes I would seek mercy
                               From my fellow man
                               And I would show mercy
                               Wherever I can
                               But no mercy shown
                               By you or by me
                               Can hold a dim light
                               To Calvary's tree

Inspired by the obvious and one of our
