7 Seconds of Spring
There is something more precious than a diamond that shines brighter than the sun found in a moment of innocence frozen in time
Patience is the key to the prize because… a moment can last an unknowing amount of time, and it is greater than anything you could imagine whether or not you know the size
Because in this moment life, time, and the world are all perfect
In this moment there is no way to make perfect better but somehow you do it every time effortlessly
In this moment you know where you are, but you are lost at the same time
And you know what you want but you are scared to reach for it, but what would we be if no one ever reached
7 seconds before reaching, emotional prelude to the unwanted goodbye and the unknowing next time
We both know what is coming but still question the near future
She rests her head on my shoulder and runs her hand through my beard
6 seconds before reaching she sighs a sigh of happiness and sadness mixed together, because she treasures this moment more than a pirate and his search for gold to unfold but she…
5 seconds before reaching, goodbye is opening the door so we stand and embrace each other before goodbye can see
4 seconds, the embrace is lust behind bars, love in chains, freedom behind a gate, but a heart with wings
3 seconds, our eyes meet like the first time you looked in my direction, a couple on their 1st date, love in its first kiss, like the one who is blind, but their heart sees it all before it’s too late
As our eyes meet before the blink the moment blossoms like a rose growing in concrete
And the door is now halfway open with goodbye being ever so discrete
2 seconds, the embrace becomes tighter as you put your face against my cold neck and breathe a warm reassuring last breath. Winter killing an everlasting rose
1 second, goodbye walks in and you walk out leaving my heart, mind, and dreams with nothing but a double take…
In that moment I started to reach and then quickly retracted, leaving my mind with nothing left to say
But there is something special about not winning or losing and just living in the middle that just feels right.
p.s. thank you for being my friend...
