4th of July Musings

4th of July Musings Freedom – a gift given to our land, By those to whom it was denied; Then earned and earned and earned again By countless brave our flag to fly. Is this treasure threatened on this 4th? Are we losing Independence this day? Wars and hate dot the planet, must we fear It will all be taken away? For are we free if we must point guns At those who point theirs at us? Are we free if we can’t say or be Ourselves without causing a fuss? Or should we begin again at church and home To set examples of kindness and love, That like a rock in the center of a pool Will spread rings of peace from above.
