40 Days
I trust you with my weaknesses,
you crush them with your charm,
it's been forty feckless days
since you sounded the alarm,
then as you ran for cover
I'm left naked and exposed,
bombs fall as confetti,
Earth cracks beneath my toes.
I cut my knees on impact
as I crawl for your protection,
Apocalypse can't hold me back
for all this devastation,
seems heavenly compared to life
upon this land without you,
these forty feckless days
are devoid of any value.
The sky's ablaze with dangers,
with crippled promises,
but if loving you is fatal
then let life end like this.
