i'm not supposed to feel this way about you
cause it's only been some months since we first met
i don't know what you would do if i confided this in you
and so, i cannot risk the loss of my best friend 

there's some that use the word "infatuation"
and yet i've tried to stay within uncertain bounds
and so, i hide away the words you don't want me to say
i'm overwhelmed by deeper feelings all around

and so, i patiently walk down this path beside you
and i admit i dream, at times, of holding hands
and then i glance your way with something on my lips to say
but then, why spoil this lovely journey and Fate's plans
