3 Autumn Haiku Shiki Style

just outside
my sadness
Geese fly south

the door knocks
in my dream
Wisteria blooms

secrets freeze briefly
in the night
my love seeks light

Brother Goff, you are excellent at anything you put your hands to. I may have missed your other haiku offerings - but these are superb. I love wild Wisteria, often considered a pest.... but those bunches of grape-like blooms! I love all three, but the first is in a league of its own. Congrats Poet Rocking-Shiki-style

Thank you Brother Anil, you are very kind! If you don't own a copy of Matsaoka Shiki, I encourage you to pick one up! When I read Shiki I get so inspired with his simplicity! was harvesting Wild Ramps in Wisconsin Bluffs today for Executive Chefs ((almost $600.00 this yr!) & came across a Spotted Fawn one foot away hiding behind a tree all curled up! I got a photo & will drop a poem to be privately published...if you send me your email soupmail I will send photo!

I forgot to click "Fav". BTW: I had a typo in my recent post. The weird thing is, I had copy/pasted into the PS posting field (after an extensive proofreading of the Word Doc). Maybe it was a cursor-jump-scramble in the posting field after I copy/pasted.

Hey Jimbo. I saw that you kept the last poem of mine to be posted before my most recent PS hiatus, some company. Thanks, bud. I love these "Shiki Style" haiku. They are a breath of fresh air for me to read. I'll come back later to check out some of your other more recent posts.

Hey Chris...agreed...Shiki could only look out his window towards the end, but he gifted the world with bare beauty...I will try more now that you reminded me...I gotta really slow down & feel it to write...jimbo

Though Shiki is unknown to me I'm willing to wager you have done it justice here Jim :)

I love reading you & seeing you interact with grace and His shalom, here Sir James Goff. I am less often here, but did see your generous comments on my musings/poems. I need to re-read on Shiki ... love these haiku offerings. #2 is best for me, but I loved the "intended puns" in "fly South" and "freeze" in #s 1 and 3. shalom Friend
