365 days

365 days since you left and so much has changed yet nothing feels different at all.
I still feel empty and cold
and the pain of loosing you changes me more everyday… in no way for the better.
My life has been filled with pain and loss but nothing prepared me for this.
The loss of loosing you,
My hero,
My defender,
My biggest fan.
There’s a hole in this world without you.
A fear, because I know I’ll never be who I was before.
I am a fatherless daughter.
A failure of all the things I never got to be before you left.
Of all the memories left unmade.
The words left unspoken.
What a burden,
what a burden life has become.
For I am a fatherless daughter.
365 days and I am a fatherless daughter
And so much has changed….yet nothing…. nothing feels different at all.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

A deeply affecting portrait of first-year grief. The return to “fatherless daughter” works like a refrain, showing how loss becomes an unwanted new identity, while the contrast between so much changing and nothing feeling different captures bereavement’s disorienting stillness. The short fragments — “My hero, / My defender, / My biggest fan” — make the father’s absence especially immediate and personal. I understand your grief and hope soon you can just remember the joyful times and begin finding you own. Soup mail

I truly feel the angst and uncertainty of your emotions at the moment, Amanda. I've just lost someone who was once a very special person to me. I hope your emptiness is soon filled with happiness.
