24 Now
Stay
“Close your eyes now,” I said
to a daughter who was already asleep
and woke from my words.
The thunder crashed. Perhaps
I wanted her scared, so I could be dad.
But there’s nothing I could do except
do nothing, together with her.
It’s like words. Things happen.
Without words they would still happen.
But then without words.
